Unfortunately in this world we must always stay alert for people looking to steal from us. This task is even more difficult when the crooks present themselves as professional people or friends claiming to have our best interests at heart. Our ancestors faced this dilemma centuries ago, and sadly their trusting nature often led to their demise: many were robbed and swindled of land and other valuable resources. As proud Native people it’s crucial that we draw from the strengths of our traditions to help guide us through life: however, it is equally vital that we learn from the mistakes of our ancestors too, thus preventing unnecessary hardships.
