Tribal Leaders

New Opportunities
As tribal enterprises continue to grow and prosper, tribal members have new opportunities to grow their own personal wealth.  Tribal leaders have an interest in providing their citizens with the tools they need to handle their money. This is especially true for youth.

First Nations Development Institute’s InvestNative project offers workshops to help tribal leaders bring their citizens the information they need to manage their newfound wealth.

Workshop overview
A standard workshop includes 1 full (7 hour) day of training using First Nations' Investing for the Future workbook. Training is interactive and suitable for adult learners. This training is good for beginning learners and people who want to refresh their knowledge about investing concepts. This training frames investing in a culturally appropriate way, uses Native trainers, and uses stories and examples from Native communities. First Nations Development Institute is a Native-managed not-for-profit organization, and our work is funded by foundation grants.

Topics covered
Workshops cover concepts like why to invest?, compound interest, the time value of money, and periodic investing. This training provides a review of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other securities.

Cost of Workshop
A one day workshops usually costs $3,500. Training materials such as workbooks and calculators are provided free of charge. Shorter workshops (2 or 3 hour formats) can be offered for a lower cost.
